NMEAremote’s Apple Watch app brings real-time marine navigation and vessel data directly to your wrist, functioning as part of the comprehensive iOS marine data ecosystem.
Because NMEAremote connects to boat data systems supporting NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000, SignalK or MQTT protocols, and works with systems like Expedition and B&G H5000 the watch app complements the full iPhone/iPad experience, giving you quick glance access to all vessel data while keeping your hands free for sailing.
The watch app is included with both the full NMEAremote app and the LITE version, with no subscriptions or recurring costs required.
Data Display

The watch app displays comprehensive marine information including:
- Navigation data (position, course, speed)
- Wind conditions (speed and angle)
- Weather information
- AIS data
- Water depth
- Performance values
- Racing data
- Engine parameters
- Battery and tank levels
Watch Face Complication
The watch app supports a shortcut complication to open the app directly from your Apple Watch face for quick access.
Independent Operation
The watch app can be configured to operate tethered to its paired iPhone or standalone using local WIFI or cellular connections. When tethered to iPhone, watch app will share current NMEAremote connections using Bluetooth
The watch app runs also independently from the iPhone, with improved connectivity and HTTP Client support. This means you can view marine data directly on your watch without needing your iPhone app open.
The watch can connect directly to onboard data sources via local HTTP(S) connections or remotely via HTTP protocols, making it function as a virtual multifunction display. With cellular-enabled Apple Watch models, remote monitoring is available almost anywhere.
One scenario would be to install a dedicated iPad at the chart table, running NMEAremote with the appropriate HTTP server, and have the entire crew leave their iPhones at the dock and connect their Watch apps independently to this iPad.
Customisable Dashboard
The watch dashboard is – like all other dashboards in the NMEAremote ecosystem – fully customisable.
Even there is no fancy and intuitive dashboard editor available at the moment (what I’m working on right now) the dashboard could be configured by just a file import.
Not to mention that all of NMEAremote‘s possible properties are available to display.
